Jalietza Woven Strap
Description
Our new collection of comfy wide short straps to replace your straps on current bags. Each piece is the perfect combination of Oaxacan artistry and our leather craft.
Santo Tomás Jalieza, located in Oaxaca, Mexico, is a renowned weaving community specializing in traditional backstrap loom (telar de cintura) textiles. Using cotton, wool, and sometimes leather, local artisans, organized into collectives, produce colorful belts, handbags, table runners, and pouches featuring bold geometric, animal, and human figures.
Felipa Jarquin is one of the weavers who has been a long term friend of the Martinez family. Felipa was excited to share stories of getting to know Don Pepe our patriarch as a youg boy frequenting and helping his dad around with all the markets which Felipa and our grandfather attended. We are proud to include other makers that have transcend their craft though generations just like our brands.
